Dedication of the Black Hills Correctional Transition Center was held in Rapid City on May 22, 2012. ARC International is architect for the building remodel. The 55,294-square-foot building can house up to 419 inmates with additional space for drug and alcohol support groups, counseling and classrooms. The main floor of the center includes a dining room and kitchen managed by a professional firm and using inmate workers. The New Box Elder City Administration building is a multi-use structure that will house the town hall, administrative offices, police department and a community center. Currently under construction, the project was designed around owner provided concepts and materials which added programming flexibility and economy to the overall project.
